Monitor Federal Grant Deadlines Automatically
Build a source-linked deadline calendar from posted Grants.gov funding opportunities.

A grant calendar fails when dates are copied once and never reconciled with revised notices. The Grants.gov Scraper can supply a repeatable opportunity feed, while a downstream calendar owns reminders, assignments, and internal milestones.
Collect posted opportunities with details
Use the topics that match an approved funding strategy:
{"queries":["public health","workforce development"],"statuses":["posted"],"includeDetails":true,"maxResultsPerQuery":100}For each unique opportunity, store the official close date, open date, archive date, title, agency, opportunity number, status, eligibility material, and source URL. Normalize displayed dates into one internal timezone only after preserving the original string, because some source records include time and zone context while others provide a date alone.
Create internal milestones relative to the source deadline: qualification, partner confirmation, budget draft, narrative review, compliance review, and submission buffer. Keep those dates separate from the agency date so a source revision can trigger recalculation without erasing work already completed.
On every scheduled run, compare opportunity ID and material fields with the prior complete snapshot. Alert when a close date changes, a forecast becomes posted, a notice is archived, or eligibility text is revised. Do not interpret a missing record in an incomplete run as cancellation.
Assign an owner before sending reminders. A large unowned calendar creates noise and encourages teams to chase grants outside strategy. Qualification should consider mission fit, applicant type, geography, cost sharing, likely award size, delivery capability, and the effort required. The official notice remains authoritative; the dataset is an operational index that helps teams notice and manage changes sooner.
Frequently asked questions
Are close dates guaranteed not to change?
No. Agencies can revise notices, so every deadline should retain its current source link.
How often should searches run?
Daily is appropriate for active programs; weekly can suit broader research pipelines.
