What we set
Session cookies (Clerk)
Strictly necessary
- Purpose
- Keep you signed in. Set by Clerk, our authentication provider. Required for the dashboard to work.
- Retention
- Managed by Clerk session settings; signing out ends the active session.
CSRF token
Strictly necessary
- Purpose
- Protects against cross-site request forgery on form submissions and API calls.

Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk)
Analytics
- Purpose
- Optional public-page interaction metrics, heatmaps and session replay after acceptance. All text is masked. Account, dashboard and OAuth pages are excluded; arbitrary URL queries and fragments prevent recording. Only known blog categories and public setup anchors are allowed. Advertising storage is denied.
- Retention
- Clarity manages its visitor and session cookies; recordings and metrics follow Microsoft's published retention policy.
PostHog analytics
Analytics
- Purpose
- Optional page views and explicit product events after acceptance. URL query strings and private paths are removed; form autocapture and session recording are disabled. Account events can use your Clerk identifier, with no email or OAuth tokens. The browser client is configured not to include IP properties.
- Retention
- Browser identifiers persist until cleared or expired; event retention follows the configured analytics project.
Cookie banner preference
Strictly necessary
- Purpose
- Remembers your cookie consent choice so we don't ask again.
- Retention
- 12 months.
What we do NOT use
- No advertising or remarketing cookies.
- No Facebook, Google Ads or LinkedIn Insight advertising pixels.
- Our site requests no advertising storage from Clarity. Microsoft processes analytics under its own privacy statement. Optional PostHog is configured with
ip: falseand respects Do Not Track.
How to opt out
Optional browser analytics stays off until you accept the banner shown on first visit when analytics is configured. Clarity does not load without acceptance and respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. To change a saved choice, clear the Thirdwatch cookie preference in your browser and reload. Strictly-necessary cookies cannot be disabled — sign-in and CSRF protection require them. You can also clear all cookies from your browser settings at any time; this will sign you out. Withdrawing acceptance stops Clarity and reloads the page to end its recorder.
