Build an ECB Foreign Exchange Rate Dashboard

A useful FX dashboard needs consistent definitions more than constant refreshes. Mixing providers, quote directions, or timestamps can produce charts that look plausible while comparing different things. The ECB Exchange Rates Scraper gives every selected currency the same EUR base and official observation calendar.

Design a stable collection table

Create columns for date, currency, base_currency, rate_per_eur, and status. Use date plus currency as the unique key. Keep the inverse field for convenient displays, but calculate business rules from the published rate direction.

Run this input once and inspect the table view. Confirm that all currencies have recent dates; publication calendars can make the newest day differ around holidays. After validation, save it as a Task and schedule one daily run. Loading five observations instead of one gives the downstream job room to recover after a missed schedule without a special backfill.

In the dashboard layer, separate the current-rate card from the historical series. Show the ECB observation date prominently so viewers do not mistake a reference rate for an intraday market quote. Alert on missing currencies only after accounting for weekends. Store the source URL with the data so reviewers can trace any number.

This pattern works well for treasury reporting, international revenue summaries, and operational conversions where an authoritative daily reference matters more than tick-level pricing. It does not replace executable bank quotes or hedging systems.
